The Southeast Suburban Circuit of the LCMS Minnesota South District invites children and families to a joyful celebration of St. Nicholas Day! We’ll gather to sing beloved Advent and Christmas hymns and give thanks for God’s gifts through the faithful witness of St. Nicholas.

Each child will receive a small goodie bag with chocolate coins, a mandarin orange, and a mini candy cane—a nod to the generosity and traditions of this festive day. Please complete the RSVP form to reserve one for your child. The celebration will close with a candlelight hymn, sung together in the hope and expectation of the coming Christ, the light of the world.

For questions or hymn/carol requests, please email Dr. Dicke or stjlc@saintjameslutheran.com.

Saint Lucia Day

Saturday, December 13th at 9:30AM
Fireside Room (or Fellowship Hall, if needed)

Alyson Voges

As winter mornings grow darker, come share a bright and joyful celebration of light this Saint Lucia Day! We’ll gather in the Fireside Room for a story read-aloud, Advent hymns, hot cider and cocoa, and the comforting scent of traditional sweet buns. All ages are welcome—and we encourage you to invite a friend to share in the celebration! Children are especially invited to dress up if they’d like (the Voges kids will be!).

If you’d like your child to dress up:

  • Girls traditionally wear a long white dress or nightgown with a red sash and a Saint Lucia crown (a wreath with candles).

  • Boys may come as Light Bearers (or Star Boys) in simple white robes with cone-shaped hats decorated with stars, or simply wear a white shirt and dark pants and carry a star.

Craft materials will also be available for children to make simple paper crowns and hats during the event.
Please RSVP by 12/10 to Alyson at alyson.voges@gmail.com to help us plan for food and drink.
